Restricted registration for veterinarians

You do not need to apply for a new licence or registration at this point. Your existing AVS restricted veterinary licence to treat animals and birds remains valid until its stated expiry date, and all current licensing conditions continue to apply.

Who is eligible to be a restricted registered veterinarian?

You may apply for restricted registration if you meet all three of the following criteria:

• Qualification: You hold a veterinary qualification that does not meet the requirements for full registration, but has provided you with adequate training.

• Knowledge and experience: You can demonstrate that you have the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to practise veterinary medicine.

• Employment: You have been selected for employment as a veterinarian at a veterinary establishment in Singapore.

What conditions might be placed on your registration?

SVC may attach conditions to your restricted registration, including:

• Practising only under the supervision of an approved veterinarian

• Having your performance reviewed by an approved veterinarian

• Practising only at the veterinary establishment you were hired at, or at other establishments specified by SVC

• Limiting practice to certain areas of veterinary medicine

To be a duly qualified veterinarian, you must also apply for a valid Practising Certificate, which must be renewed every two years.

If you meet the criteria for Full Registration, you may wish to apply for that instead.
