The Veterinary Practice Act 2026 (opens in new tab)will be implemented in phases starting with the formation of the Veterinary Council. Existing veterinarians will be transitioned to the new registration framework in 2027. Until the registration framework commences, the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, will continue to license veterinarians and handle complaints.

How do you apply for or renew a Practising Certificate (PC)?

A veterinarian must hold both a valid registration and a valid PC issued by SVC in order to lawfully practice veterinary medicine in Singapore.

A PC may only be applied after you have been registered as a veterinarian holding either full registration (opens in new tab) or restricted registration (opens in new tab).

To obtain or renew a PC, you must submit an application to SVC along with any documents, information, or declarations, as well as an application fee. We will provide instructions on how to apply for your Certificate of Registration and Practising Certificate.

SVC may refuse to grant or renew your PC, or cancel your existing certificate, if you do not meet the eligibility requirements.

If SVC intends to cancel your PC, you will be notified in writing and given the opportunity to provide reasons why it should not be cancelled.

Your PC will also be automatically cancelled if your registration as a veterinarian is cancelled or suspended.
