Continuing Professional Education

Compulsory CPE for all veterinarians applying or renewing the Practising Certificate

The Veterinary Practice Act 2026 (opens in new tab)will be implemented in phases starting with the formation of the Veterinary Council. Existing veterinarians will be transitioned to the new registration framework in 2027. Until the registration framework commences, the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, will continue to license veterinarians and handle complaints.

Until further notice, you should continue to meet the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) requirements that apply to your AVS veterinary licence.
